PATCH MANAGER User Training

The course examines the fundamental concepts and techniques for documenting cable, assets and connectivity in the PATCH MANAGER Application, a connectivity management database. The attendees of this class should have a basic understanding of telecommunications cabling, networks and networked devices. This class is taught both onsite (3-full days) and online (over 6-half-days online). It consists of power point presentations, class discussion, demonstrations and labs to provide the attendee a working knowledge of the PATCH MANAGER application. Labs are utilized to ensure a basic understanding of the material covered during the class. Attendees will develop an understanding of the relationship between hardware and cables (copper, fiber-optic and power) in the environment discussed; Data Centers, Outside Plant or Office Space. The class will explore ways to add and report on specific data contained in this connectivity management system.
BICSI CEC – 19 credits

At the end of the class attendees should be able to:

  1. Generate a hierarchy of their specific organization
  2. Document the permanent infrastructure
  3. Document the patch cables and assets connected with them
  4. Create and use a work order to reserve assets and plan work
  5. Query the PATCH MANAGER system to provide information about cables and assets.

PATCH MANAGER Basic Reports Training

The course examines the fundamental concepts and techniques for creating basic reports in the PATCH MANAGER Application, a connectivity management database. The attendees of this class should have a basic understanding of telecommunications cabling, networks and networked devices. The attendees must also have a working knowledge of the PATCH MANAGER application or have completed the PATCH MANAGER User Training. This class is completed in 4 online sessions of 2 hours, over the course of 4 days. The class consists of power point presentations, class discussion, demonstrations and labs to provide the attendee a working knowledge of creating and editing the PATCH MANAGER templates. Labs are utilized to ensure a basic understanding of the material covered during the class. Attendees will develop an understanding to create custom PATCH MANAGER reports. The class will create several reports in the PATCH MANAGER application that are usable in any clients PATCH MANAGER Application.

  1. Create custom reports within the PATCH MANAGER application on devices.
  2. Create custom reports within the PATCH MANAGER application to trace connectivity

PATCH MANAGER OSP Training

This course examines the concepts and techniques for documenting Outside Plant assets and cabling in the PATCH MANAGER Application, a connectivity management database. The attendees of this class should have a basic understanding of telecommunications cabling, splicing and outside plant infrastructure. The attendees must also have a working knowledge of the PATCH MANAGER application or have completed the PATCH MANAGER User Training. This class is completed in 4 online sessions of 2 hours, over the course of 4 days. The class consists of power point presentations, class discussion, demonstrations and labs to provide the attendee a working knowledge of using the OSP features of PATCH MANAGER. Labs are utilized to ensure a basic understanding of the material covered during the class. Attendees will develop an understanding to document direct connected outside plant cabling. This will include the documentation of splicing and routing of cables though conduit and pathways. The class will create an outside plant example campus on a GIS map both manually and by importing data.
BICSI CEC – 8 credits

At the end of the class attendees should be able to document and record:

  1. Maintenance holes and Aerials containing splice enclosures within the PATCH MANAGER application.
  2. Create conduits and inner ducts within the PATCH MANAGER application to connect maintenance holes.
  3. Create cables with multiple strands cabling within the PATCH MANAGER application and both connect and splice these cables together.
